Spending $400 on a pair of headphones or earbuds can give you some very good headphones, but how about spending a whopping $4000 on a pair of headphones? That’s the price tag of the new Focal Utopia headphones which was released very recently at the same time as the $250 Focal Listen headphones. The target demographic is obviously professionals and audiophiles who want the best sound quality that money can buy. We tried the Focal Utopia headphones ourselves and all we can say is that we don’t wish to listen with any other headphone again. The sound quality was superb, comfort was just great and the clarity of the tones was unbelievable.
The $4000 Focal Utopia headphones are not exactly built like other headphones out there. They are more built like loudspeakers and they have an open back. It sounds like you’re actually there listening to the song live. It’s a weird feeling and if you ever get the opportunity to try one of these, we highly recommend that you do so. Even better if you have the means to buy one of these.
Looking deeper into the headset, the driver is made of beryllium, which is what gives the headphones its amazing sound clarity. The frequency response is a whopping 50000Hz compared to 20000Hz for Beats by Dre headphones. This makes the isolation of individual sounds much clearer. With these headphones, you’re not listening, you’re experiencing. The only bad thing about the Focal Utopia headphones is that you will have a very hard time going back to your old headphones if you do not keep them.
